Concept
Within the fractured world of ‘The Realm’, a rag-tag group of adventurers must band together and hold out against foes both mundane and monstrous. Hired by The Four Guilds to take and hold an old fort deep within The Wastes, this all seems like a tough, but typical contract. Take the fortress, hold it for three long days and two hard nights, then get paid a fortune in gold. However, ancient enemies lurk in this dark land, where everything from a formation of stones to an empty grave has a long and bloody history. Will you be able to survive the siege? Will you strive and thrive against all odds? Or will you fall, just as so many others before you, to… The Ancients.
The Ancients is a PvE Live Action Role Play game, where you play as an adventurer in a high fantasy world that is fractured into rival kingdoms. You must work together with your fellow adventurers, representatives of the guilds, and rulers of this world in order to survive, and better yet get paid for your efforts. The Ancients Larp has taken inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, ‘The Portents’ LARP (by Nick Young and FYE) and Dragon Age.
What is LARP?
LARP – or Live Action Roleplay – allows you to physically act as your character, interacting with fellow players characters to solve puzzles, fight monsters, achieve goals and more! The game team will be acting as referees and crew, to facilitate the game, ensure everyone's safety and act as Non-Player Characters, be they friendly traders or foes to fight, all to create a fun narrative for everyone to enjoy.
Larp Terms
IC: In Character- Actions taken or words said while roleplaying a character.
OC: Out of Character- Actions taken or words said while not roleplaying a character.
PvE: Player vs Event- In order to succeed Players must collaborate in order to overcome obstacles set by the event and event crew.
Time In: A referee call that indicates the game has started or resumed.
Time Freeze: A referee call that indicates the game has been paused. Players are to safely remain where they are and close their eyes until “Time in” is called.
First Aid!: Someone has been injured and the game stops immediately. Non-First Aiders should take a knee and point to where they heard the call. This call should not be parroted. This is distinct from calls such as ‘Man down’ ‘Medic’ ‘Healer’ etc which should be entirely IC. ‘First Aid!’ should only be called for OC reasons.
Hand Up: If a character has their hand in the air, it means they are not In Character and should not be interacted with In Character. This should usually only be used by referees or crew, unless absolutely needed.
Non-Com: A Non-Combatant. A player or crew who does not participate in larp combat, and should not be attacked with larp weapons. Usually this player or crew will put their hand in the air when combat begins.
